Man's Body Found After Rapidly-Spreading Blaze At Florida Home

A raging house fire in Orange County left one man dead after flames rapidly engulfed his home, authorities said.

The fire broke out on Friday, Feb. 28, at around 8:06 p.m. at a three-story home located at 649 Wheeler Rd. in the village of Florida, according to the Town of Warwick Police Department. 

When first responders arrived, they found heavy fire consuming the rear of the home, with flames spreading quickly from the ground floor through the roof.

Authorities were also informed that the homeowner was unaccounted for.

As firefighters battled the flames, crews eventually made their way inside and discovered the body of Louis Miloszewski Jr., age 69, the sole occupant of the residence, police said.

Authorities said the cause of the fire is still being determined, but at this time, foul play is not suspected.

Fortunately, no firefighters were injured during the response, which included additional support from the Warwick, Goshen, Chester, Greenwood Lake, Washingtonville, Silver Lake, and Slate Hill Fire Departments.
